About ‘Pangaea’
This piece reminds me of ‘Pangaea’, the supercontinent that existed around 300 million years ago. In the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras, Earth didn't have seven continents, but instead one massive supercontinent centred on the Equator, which was surrounded by a single ocean. Pangaea assembled from earlier continental units, and began to break apart about 175 million years ago. This piece contains a rich depth of blue and black colour, accented by gold and white highlights - for me, the blue and black resembles the land masses that formed Pangaea, and the gold and white resemble the fissures as the supercontinent began to break apart.
